Vesna Spasojević-Kalimanovska is a full professor at the Department of Medical Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, and she has been retired since October 1, 2021. Within the scientific activities she has participated in various studies related to the field of medical biochemistry. Throughout her career, prof. Spasojević-Kalimanovska has led one national project and one sub-project, and also participated as the team member in numerous national and international projects. In the period 2010-14 she was a MC Substitute on COST action "HDL: From Biological Understanding to Clinical Exploitation". She also collaborated at the project of bilateral cooperation between Republic of Serbia and Republic of Slovenia. Prof Vesna Spasojević-Kalimanovska published two book chapters, five university textbooks and 134 articles in international journals (h-index:20). Prof Vesna Spasojević-Kalimanovska is a reviewer in numerous international and national scientific journal. She is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Medical Biochemistry and Archives for Pharmacy, also a member of Serbian Biochemical Society, member of Serbian Society for Mitochondrial and Free-Radical Physiology and member of the Society of Medical Biochemists of Serbia. Research interest of prof Vesna Spasojević-Kalimanovska is mainly focused on investigation of risk factors for development and progression of atherosclerosis; analysis of structural and functional disturbances of lipoproteins in various pathological conditions; gene polymorphism and gene expression patterns of enzymes, proteins and receptors in many complex and heredity diseases; interactive role of dyslipidemia, oxidative stress and inflammation in atherosclerosis and other diseases.
