Investigator
Jelena Vekić is associate professor at the Department of Medical Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. Her scientific interest is focused on structure-functional properties of lipoproteins, molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of lipid/lipoprotein metabolism and clinical significance of novel lipid biomarkers. Main areas of her research include: atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, obesity, metabolic syndrome and diabetes. A special interest of her research is related to disorders of lipid homeostasis and glucose regulation in pediatric population. She participated in several international and national projects and published two book chapters, more than 70 papers in international and national journals and two university textbooks. Jelena Vekić serves as a Section Editor in Archives of Medical Science and as a reviewer in international journals. She is a member of the Publications Committee of Serbian Biochemical Society and other professional societies.
