Jelena Munjas, PhD

Investigator

Jelena Munjas (mother's maiden Joksić) is currently employed as an assistant professor at the Department of medical biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. She won an award "Professor Ivan Berkeš" for best graduating student in the class of 2009/2010 and received a scholarship of Republic of Serbia young talents for the best 1000 students of the final year of studies at University of Belgrade. In 2018, she completed her PhD. She has participated in 4 national, 3 international bilateral projects and 7 international COST actions. She participated in several international courses and schools, and won a grant "Digital droplet PCR grant challenge" held by Labena company Ltd. As an author or co-author, she has published 21 papers from SCI list (H-index: 8). Research interest of Munjas Jelena is mainly focused on the discovery and validation of non-coding RNAs, with focus on circulating microRNAs, as biomarkers of atherosclerosis-elated diseases and preeclampsia. She is a reviewer in several international journals of the M20 category. She is a member of the Serbian Biochemical Society, the Society of Medical Biochemists of Serbia, as well as the EFLM Academy and a representative in The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine: Task Force for Young Scientists.
